BE THE TREE PREPARED FOR THE STORM. CATEGORY: Living in Balance, by R.A. Erathy.

There are countless philosophies, strategies and practices on this subject of living in balance.  One is rooted in nature and based on the physical appearance and upward growth of trees.  If you’ve traveled through the Appalachian Mountains, you’ve seen trees grow directly vertical even though rooted in a steeply angled earth.

While that is a great example of Mother Nature at her finest and a good example of the natural order and balance of physics, an even better example for this particular human-centric topic are trees whose main trunk are slanted from vertical yet remain balanced as a mature living organism.

There is much to be garnered from our carbon dioxide consuming, oxygen producing friends in nature.  For trees that, for whatever reason, start their lives on a crooked path, they evolve back into balance by growing more limbs on one side, and less on the other.  A truly evolutionary result achieved by constantly and consistently seeking physical balance, eventually resulting in a permanent adjustment of their structure capable of withstand the impending storms its life is sure to encounter.
